Project Hail Mary

★★★★☆
I laughed, I cried, I hade a good time. For a movie that's 2.5hrs long, it wasn't that bad! There were some very strong scenes and I don't have anything overly negative to say. Certain scenes seemed to lead nowhere and could have been trimmed, while others felt underdeveloped and would have benefited from more attention, but that's a common issue with book to film adaptations. Also YAY for Rocky being a puppet and them using practical effects!! He looks very lifelike and now I understand why. Would recommend looking into behind the scene clips on social media of how he's pepeteered, it's so interesting!

28 Years Later

★★★★☆
Felt a bit disjointed and very different from the original movies, but if you go in without certain expectations, I think it's a lovely movie, and a more unique take on the zombie genre. Watched in theatres and then again at home, and I think the big screen was a better choice particularly in the first half, when Spike encounters the overgrown mainland for the first time. The scale and atmosphere of those moments benefit greatly from the immersion of the big screen. It's obviously a foundation movie and doesn't fully stand on it's own, but i'm very optimistic about the next one!

Drop Dead Fred

★★★ ☆☆
Watched this because clips were doing the rounds on tiktok and everyone seemed to be speaking fondly of Drop Dead Fred as a good childhood movie. This is a psychological horror film and you can't convince me otherwise. Either it's a movie about a woman who's gone through so much abuse in her life that she starts rehalucinating someone to force her into rebelling against her opressors- or imaginary friends are real and Drop Dead Fred is actually a demon from Hell. Scientists should raise a baby on only Drop Dead Fred and Little Monsters and see how it turns out
